Stephanie Cohen was brought onto the project approximately 2 weeks before we began filming. Yes, that's correct. In a matter of 2 weeks, she managed to dream up, physically acquire and fully create the world of Sublets. (On top of having a full-time job.) Steph works at lightning speed, foresees potential dilemmas from miles away and deliberates swiftly and intelligently. I mean, she made headboard out of electrical tape for Tess' room. How cool is she?!
I sublet my roommate's room while she was gone this past summer to a woman and her cat, Martin. He was super cute but quickly became the most evil creature I have ever encountered. Whenever anyone was in the apartment (other than his owner) he would block your path to bite and claw at your ankles. If I let him into my room he would bolt to the windowsill and, while maintaining eye contact with me, knock over every one of my plants with his paw onto my bed and floor. It got to the point where I had a routine of leaving a water sprayer by the front door so I could defend myself the moment I got home, holding the bottle out as if I was going to spray him, then running to my room to put on sweatpants and socks to protect from the teeth and claws. I had to slip in and out of my room quick enough that he couldn't sneak in. It's worth mentioning that he was an angel when his owner was home, and she refused to believe he was anything but. I'm down 4 plants, my couch is torn apart, my ankles have fortunately recovered, but I'm off cats for a while... -SC
